Shout Out...

"Sometimes in life there really are bonds formed that can never be broken. Sometimes you really can find that one person who will stand by you no matter what. Maybe you'll find it in a spouse and celebrate it with your dream wedding, but theres also the chance that the one person you can count on for a lifetime, the one person who knows you sometimes better than you know yourself is the same person who's been standing beside you all along."
^ This is my Cami.  Oh, my Cami.  Tears come to my little eyes and my heart swells just thinkin' about this sweet angel.  The story of mine and Cami's friendship is one of my favorites.  We met in heaven.  AKA:  Savior of the World.  Probably real heaven too - the pre mortal kind. We were just wee little ones.  Crazy little girls sliding on the rolly chairs in the dressing room wearing only our unders, playing pollies back stage, and really just running around causing all kind of havoc.  The rules that the production team have for little kids now-a-days were put in place because of Cam and me (so proud of the legacy we left there) :D Needless to say, we quickly became what we call "bosom friends."  Then I got some of the happiest news I have ever heard - she was moving from North Salt Lake to Centerville!!  I don't know why her parents were inspired to come to C-ville, except it was probably for mine and Cami's sake.  hehe okay maybe other reasons too.  Anyway, because we were so little, we didn't think to get each other's phone numbers so when I knew she had moved, I walked around Smoot Park looking for her, and she sat in front of her new house on main street, waiting just in case my car drove by.  Well, we finally found each other have never lost each other again.
I often think about how our friendship was kindled in such a spiritual, close-to-God setting.  I think that is one reason why this bond between she and I is so unbreakable.  Our hearts grew being in Savior of the World, so we share some of the same molds that shape our hearts today.  Let me tell you just a few reasons why I love this girl so dang much.
Cami has never ceased to be able to make me laugh.  Ooooh she makes me laugh!  Even at times when I think all that I need is a serious heart to heart cry session, she tricks me and makes me laugh to bring me back to earth a bit.  What a gift that is of hers - one that she constantly shares with the world.
So Cami has a hard time keeping a cell phone.  She has a hard time answering her cell phone.  However, it's funny because while it used to frustrate me, we now just have a sort of...understanding.  I know she'll call me back even if it is four days later, and we will have the most enriching conversations.  She is loyal.  Unbelievable loyal.
Cami is in the world, but not of it.  I make it an effort to follow this girl's example and be sensitive to the unclean/unhappy things of the world.  We all need to be sensitive to the things we expose ourselves to and while so many allow themselves to become desensitized to muckity muck surrounding all of us, Cami does not.  She has such a tender heart.  One that is offended by the same things I imagine the Spirit is offended by.  Woman of virtue.
Last but not least, Cami's zeal for life, and adventure, and discovery inspire me.  Simply inspire me. The enthusiasm she speaks with, the excitement yet vulnerability in her outstretched arms as she opens them to give the sky an embrace, the testimony she bares, and the love that she gives are all manifestations that God lives.  She witnesses of Him through her life.  She is a disciple of Christ.  She is a delight to all who know her. She lifts and buoys me up.  She makes me want to be better.  She is a friend of the truest kind, and I could never fully express my gratitude for her.
Well, there is a little bit of Cami for ya.  Unfortunately, I still haven't purchased more space on my blog for pictures, so words will just have to do for now.
Cami, I love you forever, my bosom friend!

Dreams Do Come True!

Welp, I have officially lived in Logan for two weeks now, and I can honestly tell you all that...

I LOVE IT!  I love where I live, I love my roommates, I love my ward (as far as I know' I've only been twice), I love the school, I love my classes, I love my professors, I love making new friends, I love being an Aggie, and I love that I am the only one in my family to be one.  You may call me the black sheep.  As you may know, coming to USU has been my goal for a long time now.  And whadoyaknow?  It was right for me to be here.  Even on the one day I was moving here, it all felt so right and good.  As cliche as it sounds, it's where I belong for right now.  I have had that confirmed to me several times since being here, and that is such a tremendous blessing to know that I am in the right place.  My roommates were kind of making fun of me the other day because I bought a sweatshirt from the bookstore and was so excited to wear it just because I can!  Because this is MY school!  I go here!  I am an Aggie!!  It's where my heart and school pride are, and I couldn't be happier to be here.  My goal was to get involved and I am already in ASL club, and in the National Association of Social Work.  I might be doing a Best Buddies thing with my roommate as well - where I would get to just hang out with a foreign exchange student!  I am registered for the 'Women of Faith' institute class, and am excited to learn more about how I can become a better one of those as well.  I'm hoping I'll get a calling here pretty soon, and that I'll get to know my ward a bit better.
*sighhhhh*
The Lord does have a plan for each of us.  He'll take care of us, ya know?  He just loves us!  I'm so grateful.  So, so grateful.

Words of wisdom for days that are not so easy...

The other day when moving to Logan, my dad told me an awesome story about his grandpa.  My great grandpa, Arthur Kelsey Russon.  He was part of a construction team that was assigned to build some sort of water way/dam between Logan and Brigham City.  The construction was going well, but as they were close to finishing the dam, the water ways that would open up and release some of the water weren't working and it started to rain.  A lot.  It rained and rained for weeks.  They were all worried that if the dam got too full, it would break and flood Brigham City.  My great grandpa had been taught to pray in any time of need, so with faithful pleas, he asked Heavenly Father to do something.  Stop the rain, perhaps.  Then guess what!...It started raining even harder.  It started pouring!  Grandpa Arhur didn't understand.  They were desperate!  Suddenly the water flushed, it mysteriously drained!  What a relief - an unexplainable miracle.  Come to find out, the dam was built on a fault line and the pressure from all of the built up water, the water that poured down at what seemed like the most inconvenient time, broke the dirt in the line.  The water flooded into the the line and drained elsewhere.  Heavenly Father did in fact "do" something.  No, not in the way dear grandpa Arthur had hoped for, but his prayer of faith was acknowledged and answered as are all of ours.
"Sometimes it rains harder," my dad likes to tell me now.  "But the Lord knows best."  I don't always understand why we are asked to experience hard things in this life.  Or why sometimes it takes what seems like a whole life time for certain prayers to be answered.  I do know however, that the Lord in His perfect and infinite love has a plan for each of us individually.  I have come to know that in such a personal way in these last several months.  We MUST hold on and press forward, keeping our covenants.  He is in the details of our lives, and even when things pile up and everything seems to be going wrong, it is most definitely for our good.  Sometimes when we are at our breaking point, where the prayers of our hearts can hardly even be formed into words, well...

sometimes it rains harder.  :)

Savior of the World 2012

Yet another year of participating in Savior of the World has come and gone, and of course I have to share some of my thoughts about it.  It has taken a bit of time to write it all down because I have been trying to gather my thoughts about it.  There are so many things and experiences that I would love to share, but honestly I couldn't convey through words just how amazing being a part of this miraculous show, feeling the Spirit in such a special and personal way, and coming to know some of the most tender souls, really is.
Each time I have been in Savior of the World, it has been a different experience with different lessons to learn and different things to improve on.  Each time though, my relationship with my Savior has been strengthened and each time I have been blessed to get close to and unify myself with some of the sweetest and influential saints.  We become unified in His work, and feel a love for one another that could surely only come from the Spirit and love of Christ - my brothers and sisters! People matter.   That is one thing that I noticed this year in particular.  I feel that this year, I have learned so much about how to love.  I have felt my heart open up in ways I never have before.  I have never felt such a true desire to love and serve selflessly than when I am in this production.  One of the purest, most heavenly kinds of joy can be experienced there.
As you may know, this year I got to be a part of one of my favorite scenes of the whole show.  It was an absolute delight to be able to stand with such amazing women and testify of Christ - especially to children.  When we would sing Alleluia, I truly rejoiced with those sisters in the fact that Jesus Christ returned and lives again!  He conquered death.  At a homecoming I went to this year, my friend told about how before his first transfer, he asked his missionary trainer for any last bit of advice.  His trainer then grabbed his shoulders and looked him in the eyes and said, "Elder, everyone in this world is a sinner, and you are the biggest one."  Although at first that may seem harsh, his point was that each of us need the Savior.  Desperately.  Whether we sin great sins, or just fall short everyday.  It is such a humbling principle to me.  It is so true.  How merciful the Lord is to forgive us and teach us time and time again because He understands our imperfections and humanity.
I feel that I have truly come closer to my Savior through this experience.  I love Him.  He is my very best friend and I do stand all amazed at the love He offers each of us.
